Formal Red Dress
This red dress was designed to raise awareness about women’s heart disease, which remains one of the leading causes of death among women yet is often overlooked or misunderstood. The color red was intentionally chosen as a visual symbol of heart health, strength, and urgency, drawing attention to an issue that deserves more visibility and conversation.
In developing this design, I wanted the dress to feel both powerful and feminine. The silhouette balances softness and structure, reflecting the complexity of women’s experiences with heart disease often hidden, misdiagnosed, or dismissed. Flowing fabrics and dramatic elements create movement, while the long sleeves and modest neckline bring a sense of elegance and restraint, allowing the message behind the dress to remain the focus.
Details such as the fabric choice and construction were thoughtfully selected to evoke emotion and awareness rather than excess. Overall, this dress serves not only as a fashion statement but also as a reminder of the importance of listening to women’s bodies, advocating for better healthcare, and continuing to raise awareness around women’s heart health.
