Hola

My name is Dayanara Cid, and I’m a Fashion Design student at Thomas Jefferson University with a minor in Management. My interest in design started back in high school, when I realized I enjoyed taking clothes apart almost as much as wearing them. I’ve always been curious about how garments actually work how they fit, move, and feel on the body not just how they look on a hanger. That curiosity has grown into a real appreciation for the balance between creativity and construction, and how thoughtful design can turn something simple into something meaningful.

Through my education, I’ve developed a strong foundation in garment construction, fit, and product development, while also exploring adaptive wear and sustainable design practices. Working on adaptive projects taught me how important it is to listen, observe, and design with real people in mind, especially when accessibility and ease of use matter most. Sustainability has also become an important part of my process, pushing me to think more intentionally about materials, reuse, and responsible design decisions.

Alongside hands on making, I’ve gained experience working digitally using tools like CLO3D, which has helped me better visualize fit, proportion, and construction before a garment is ever made. Combining physical and digital design has shaped the way I approach projects thoughtfully and practically.

Outside of school, I work full-time in luxury retail while managing a demanding academic schedule, which has taught me how to be collaborative, courageous, and competent in the way I approach my work. Balancing both has pushed me to communicate openly, take initiative, and follow through with intention, even when things feel challenging. As I move into my next chapter, I know I’ll carry these skills with me and apply everything I’ve learned to whatever environment I’m in.
